Spanish Avocados
The avocado is a fruit of exceptional features: while most fruits are rich in carbohydrates and have little fat, avocado, is mainly composed of healthy fats, monounsaturated. Each piece weighs, on average 300-700 grams, although it is easy to find parts that exceed kilo. As for the interior, the flesh is creamy, like butter and has a mild flavour and a pleasant aroma.
Due to its peculiar composition, it is a fruit of high caloric content, but also fibre and healthy fats. Monounsaturated fatty acids help lower LDL cholesterol, so help maintain a healthy cardiovascular system. The fibre on the other hand, also participates reducing reabsorption of cholesterol in the colon so that blood does not pass; in addition, it is prebiotic, regulates intestinal transit and gives feeling of satiety.
Avocado is rich in polyphenol compounds that have many beneficial properties to the organism: they are anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anticancer. As for other nutrients, it is a fruit particularly rich in vitamin k, important for blood clotting; folic acid, essential for the proper development of the foetus; potassium regulates blood pressure and vitamin c, a powerful antioxidant. Also, it contains small amounts of magnesium, which protects the heart; copper and iron required to produce red blood cells; vitamin a, group b … Among many others.
